So, rather than make mistakes: Could anybody tell me how to install Gimp easily like in the Windows world? (Download and click on the exe program or the equivalent????) I need a step to step explanation or a tuto if it exists. My questions: where do I find the exact version ( in french) I need for my system? What file do I choose? What is the exact procedure to install it easily? I have already tried to install the User's Manual but I can't find it on my Mac Book. I found the file Gimp-2-1.6-User-Manual-fr.pkg O.K., ran it but couldn't find any result!!!!! Shoud it be in the download file? It isn't in mine. I'm completely lost. I used to work on my 3000 photos with GIMP on a P.C, but since I had a breakdown, I would like to carry on on my Mac as soon as possible. Thank you for your kind help in advance. I hope it'll be easy to read your answers (I'm new to Apple Support Communities as well) and I hope i'll get an E-mail when the answers come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A nit I am, I told you. I've used the Gimp on my Linux laptop for a long time, but this is my first time trying to install a plugin on a Mac. I'm trying to install a plugin called 'Resynthesize' found at (version 0.12 for Mac). It says it works in Gimp 2, which I have. I moved the resynth executable to my Library/Application./Gimp/plugins directory, and checked that this directory is indeed where the Gimp looks for plugins through Preferences>Folders. Everything seems to be installed properly, but it still isn't loading the plugin. Am I forgetting something, or do I need to try and compile the plugin by myself? If so, how would I do that? The plugin includes a makefile, but I get errors trying to make install (I have gimptool-1.2).
